Together Housing Inc. aims to develop an interactive cohousing group which allows for individuality, privacy and respect for diversity within a sharing, supportive community. We envisage blending individual skills and knowledge into common goals, such as growing produce, making items to sell, and facilitating seminars or workshops. We would like to incorporate disabled or disadvantaged groups of society into our productive avenues.

LAND

The idea is to stratum title 10-12 individual plots. One area will have camping spots and an amenities block, another area reception/shop/caretaker accommodation and an 8 room guest house, to be built in stages. The remaining land, to be jointly owned and maintained, will host a large organic/biodynamic veggie garden, herb garden, orchard and nursery as well as common car parking and reed beds for our self-contained black/greywater system.

BUILDINGS ON JOINTLY OWNED LAND

• One big hall with commercial kitchen, cool store, sound insulated children's play room, library and work space for community gatherings, shared meals, workshops, seminars, the making of produce etc.
• 1 games room. for table tennis/ pool table/ board games/ craft area/ music.(not television/electronic games)
• 1 mechanical workshop for all community cars/ machinery/ and projects.
• 1 large shed to produce items and/or storage
• 1 poultry yard/shed.

BUILDINGS ON INDIVIDUAL PLOTS

Each owner to design their own house, though a common theme could be having the same roof colour, or hexagonal shape. We aim to build environmentally friendly structures and healthy houses, and we would like to explore alternative energy such as sun and/or wind generator.

BALANCE OF COMMUNITY

We envisage some elderly or disabled residents, some families, and individual people. Some might live away from the community and have their house as a holiday house, and others may choose to generate a living and work within the community. A work commitment of three hours a week towards the maintenance of buildings/ land or common meals would be necessary for the community to thrive. We would like to have something spiritual in common, such as the desire to live from a conscience of love, but not a specific religion, or political belief. All jointly owned buildings and land to be alcohol free areas, and illegal drugs will not be allowed.
